Ramlow, Dolores (Lorry)

Dolores (Lorry) Ramlow, age 93 passed away June 9, 2018 at the Wisconsin Veterans Home, King, WI.

She was born in Milwaukee the last of seven children. She graduated from Pulaski High School in Milw. She served in the Navy during WWII as a Corp Wave. She married Robert (Bob) Ramlow Sr. in 1946 in Milwaukee. He passed away in 1997. She was a homemaker raising six children while living in Milwaukee, Rockford, IL; Dayton, OH; Chicago, IL; Wild Rose, WI and Amherst Junction, WI before moving to the Veterans Home in 2016. During those years she and her children spent the summers living on Mt. Morris Lake and primarily on Pine Lake near Wild Rose at her sister Emily’s lake home and eventually their own cottage. With her husband, she was very involved in the Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts serving as a den mother and Girl Scout Leader. After her children were grown she was a cook and lived at Twin Lakes Scout Camp, Waupaca where Bob was the camp ranger and also was a cook at Nordic Mt. Ski Area during the winter. After her husband died she and her sons built a log cabin on Pine Lake. She later moved to Amherst Junction to be closer to her children. She made many good friends in the Amherst area and was a member of St. James Church. She was a member of the Third Order of St. Francis and the Amherst Red Hatters.

She is survived by three sons, Jeff (Stevens Point), Greg (Amherst Junction) and Bob Jr. (Amherst), five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, in-laws, Ron and Judy Ramlow along with numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, husband, five daughters and one son. A Funeral Mass will be held in the Main Chapel at the Veterans Home on Thursday, June 14 at 11:30 a.m. Visitation will be Thursday morning from 10:30 a.m. until the time of mass at the Main Chapel. Burial will follow in the Veterans Cemetery. A reception will follow at the Chain Bar & Grill.
