Q&A with Coach Travis Bauer

By Erik Buchinger

Number of years as head coach: First.

Returning varsity athletes: Ava Downie( 11), Emily Schmidt (10).

Team goals/expectations: Being a young team and only having two returning players, we’re hoping to improve as individuals and as a team while also being very competitive within our conference.

Team’s strengths: We are young, but we have a nucleus of players that have had a lot of exposure to the game and are eager to do the things necessary to play their best all around golf.

Team’s weaknesses: With only two returning players, the majority of our team does not have a lot of experience playing competitive rounds of golf.

Biggest event on the schedule: Every conference match we play is big. Our conference tournament is at Chaska on Sept. 19.

What would make for a successful season: Constant improvement from the team and finishing high in our conference standings.

Why fans should be excited for this year’s team: Young and talented. These players will be around for multiple seasons. Great competition, attitude and support within our own team.
