Feathers, Beverly Joyce

Beverly Joyce Feathers, age 87, of Manawa was born on March 17, 1931 in New London, daughter of the late Harold and Meta (Mentzer) Gorges. She went to her heavenly home on Thursday, August 30, 2018.

Bev graduated from New London High School. After high school she worked for Aid Associations for Lutherans in Appleton. In 1950, she married Lowell Feathers in Manawa and they celebrated 64 years of marriage until his death in 2014. Bev earned her degree in cosmetology at City College in Appleton. She was a beautician for over 40 years and owned and operated a beauty shop for over 20 years. She loved everything related to beauty, hair and fashion. Bev had many activities she enjoyed. She loved to sing with the Sweet Adeline’s and did so for 17 years. She enjoyed her trip with Sweet Adeline’s to Europe where they toured eight countries. She loved dancing, especially tap dancing, line dancing, and also some ball room dancing. Golfing, bowling and traveling were some more of her favorite things to do. Traveling with the kids to world fairs, going to Alaska and Mexico City were some of her most memorable trips. She loved to entertain family and friends. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Manawa.

She is survived by her children: Kay Altfeather, Kristin (Pete) Thompson and Bruce (Christine) Feathers; grandchildren: Ryan, Wade Drew and Rochelle Thompson; Nate, Brodie, and Shelette Altfeather; Jaimie and Blake Feathers; 11 great-grandchildren; a brother, Cameron (Judi) Gorges; sister, Valorie (Jake) Nechkash; also many cousins, nieces and nephews that were so important to her. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother and sister-in-law, Harold “Chan” (Nancy) Gorges.

The funeral service for Bev will be held on Saturday, September 8, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Manawa with Rev. Vilas Mazemke officiating. Burial will be in Little Wolf Cemetery, Town of Little Wolf. A visitation for Bev will be held at the church on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society. Most likely Bev is still singing and dancing, and if you listen carefully, you will likely hear her music blowing in the wind. The Cline Hanson Dahlke Funeral Home in Manawa is serving the family.
