Alan L. Buss, 69, of Iola, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, October 28, 2018.
He was born on December 5, 1948 in Birnamwood, the son of the late Jacob and Linda (Wille) Ketelaar. On July 11, 1970, Alan was united in marriage to Margaret “Peggy” Rood at St. William Catholic Church, Eland. She survives. Alan was employed at Worzalla Publishing for many years until his retirement. He also served on the board of directors of the Central Wisconsin Electric Coop. Alan enjoyed making barn quilts and had many of his displayed throughout the area. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking, but especially enjoyed the time spent with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret ‘Peggy’ Buss; three sons, Brian (Susie) Buss of Tennessee, Jason (Janet) Buss of Scandinavia and Vincent (Jennifer) Buss of Green Bay; five grandchildren: Samantha, Austin, Hunter, Ronan and Ella; one sister, Shirley (Lloyd) Scrogging of Arizona; one sister-in-law, Patty Rood of Eland and several nieces, nephews and friends. Alan was preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law who raised him, Lillian and Raymond Buss; biological parents; three brothers, Norman, Jake and William and two sisters, Lillian and LaVerne.
A memorial service will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at Schmidt & Schulta Funeral Home, Wittenberg. Deacon David Ashenbrenner will officiate. Visitation will be on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
