Moen, Florence “Flossie” D.

Florence “Flossie” D. Moen passed away peacefully in her home Thursday, November 1, 2018.

Flossie was born in the Town of Alban near Rosholt on October 25, 1927 to the late Joseph and Victoria Garski. She married Alois Berna on May 27, 1944. They divorced in 1959. She married James Moen on March 17, 1962 at Hitterdahl Lutheran Church in Iola. He preceded her in death on May 12, 1984. Flossie was a farmer early in her life while also working for 12 years at the Zwicker Knitting Mill in Waupaca. She also worked at Faldet Farms in the potato warehouse from 1978 until her retirement in 1990. In between she was also a housewife and babysat many children over the years. Flossie loved bowling and was on many leagues at Silver Lake Lanes in Scandinavia for many years. She was a member of the American Legion and Auxiliary Post #14 in Iola. She was a member of the Iola Lioness Club and the Red Hat Society. She played Mrs. Claus in the Iola Christmas Parade for many years. She also did volunteer work for many years for the Iola Car Show and Scandinavia Corn Roast. She also loved her Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Brewers. She lived life to the fullest and loved her family and friends with all her heart. Her natural-born gift was making everyone around her feel good with a joke or a smile, whether she knew that person or not.

Flossie is survived by her son, Steve Berna and her grandson, Justin Moen, both of Iola, and her sister Teresa “Terry” Johnson of Amherst Junction. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter Karen Moen; brothers, Albert and Leonard, and sisters, Jennifer, Julia, Zepherine “Dolly,” Mary Ann, and Grace.

The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, November 5, 2018 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Iola. Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 4 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Voie Funeral Home in Iola and at the church on Monday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service.
