Auer, Eileen “Jane”

Eileen “Jane” Auer, age 92, of New London died on November 4, 2018.

Jane was born on March 28, 1926 in the township of Lebanon to the late Jack and Mae (Carey) Rohan. She married Jerry Auer on June 12, 1948; he preceded her in death on March 19, 1967. At the time of Jerry’s death Jane was left to raise eight children by herself ranging in age from 8 months to 17 years. She stayed on the family farm until the summer of 1973 when she sold the farm to her oldest son, Jim and moved to New London. After moving to town she started working for the New London School district in the hot lunch program. She enjoyed baking, sewing, quilting, embroidery and Sun Drop soda. Jane loved going for rides in the township of Lebanon where she grew up, taking notice of the farm crops and reminiscing about who lived where at one time. Her mind and memory remained sharp her entire life. Jane resided at Kindred Hearts in New London for the past five years. She looked forward to Wednesday mornings when she got “all dolled up” by Sarah Casey, her beautician. Friday mornings were also special to her when she received communion from Tom or Twilla Beyer. Her Catholic faith was very important to her. One of her last efforts was making the sign of the cross. She enjoyed her many visits from her great-grandchildren and treated them to a dum-dum sucker when they left, reminding them to “only take one”.

Jane is survived by her children: Joan (Tom) Wilson, Yuma AZ,: Joe Auer, New London: Sheila (Matt) Wilson, New London: Joyce Lynch, Edwardsville, IL: Jean (Kevin) O’Brien, Appleton: Sue (Harry) Hitchcock, Yuma, AZ: Paul (Aimee) Auer, New London; daughter-in-law, Tina Auer, and former daughter-in-law, Eileen Auer, both from New London; grandchildren, Brian (Janelle), Jeremiah (Kim), Heidi (Nick), Maria (Nick), Grady (Sarah), Adam (Caryn), Abe (Jessica), Amy (Dan) Bridget, Jared, Jessie, Kallie, Katie, Mary Beth (EJ), Katy (Mark), Dean, Brittany (Mike), and Ely; her great-grandchildren: Hollis, Blake, Jerry, Grace, Anna, Ella, Aidan, Caleb, Olivet, Ira, Una, Arlo, Liliana, Zinnia, Griffin, Emery, Macy, Victoria, Isaac, Avalee, Elyse, Hank, Joey, Penny, Abraham, Weston, Owen, Rayla, Amelia, Ellery, Kannan, Max, Liliy, Preston, Conner, Makayla, Talon.
