Betty J. Kainz, age 91, of Waupaca and formerly of Iola, passed away Saturday, November 17, 2018 at the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King, WI.
She was born in Waukesha, WI on May 30, 1927 to the late Frank and Winzetta (Brower) Davis. In 1946, she was married to John J. Kainz, and they raised three daughters. She began her career at the Mukwonago Schools as a cook. In 1976, John and Betty opened the JBJ Department & Variety Store in Iola. They enjoyed many years as “snowbirds” in Arizona, until his passing in 2001. Betty later married Orville Bierstedt in 2009 and he preceded her in death in 2014.
Survivors include her three daughters, Christine (Dan) Plehn of Waukesha, Geri (Chuck) Mayotte of East Troy, and Jackie (Don) Paulson of Waupaca; six grandchildren: Patty, Sandy, Jeff, Tabitha, Kari, and Tony; great-grandchildren: Natalie, Andre, Ava, Lucas, Presley, Brooke, Joe, Cole, Mason, Marilyn, Lillian, Nova, Ethan, and Hunter; and a sister, Nancy (Otis) Voetlz of Boulder Junction. She was preceded in death by her husbands, John and Orville; a brother, Don; as well as several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, December 1, 2018 from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Ramada Inn of Waupaca. Burial of cremains will take place at a later date at Oak Knoll Cemetery in Mukwonago. The Maple Crest Funeral Home of Waupaca assisted the family with arrangements.
