I-S hangs on to win

Sharp leads T-Birds over Port

The Iola-Scandinavia girls’ basketball team handed Port Edwards a 50-48 loss Jan. 15 in Iola.

Freshman Olivia Sharp scored nine of her team-high 15 points in the first half as the Thunderbirds led 27-23 at the break.

Kaitlyn Lyp scored 17 of her game-high 26 points for the Blackhawks in the second half.

Sharp finished with a game-high four three-pointers. Payton Wester added 10 points and 14 rebounds for the T-Birds, while Emilie Briquelet chipped in with eight points and 10 rebounds.

Jade Martin also finished in double figures for the Blackhawks with 13 points.

The T-Birds improved to 7-7 on the season with the win and will return to CWC East Division play at 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 18, at home against Menominee Indian.
