Clintonville comes up short on Senior Night

The Clintonville Trucker girls’ basketball team was defeated by Oconto Falls 54-48 on Feb. 13.

Elly Arndt led Clintonville with 14 points, and Abby King scored 13 for the Truckers.

“We didn’t play well enough in the first half to win the game tonight,” Clintonville head coach Nick Yaeger said. “I thought we played with greater energy and intensity in the second half, but the 15-point deficit at halftime was too much of a hole.”

Lizzy Weatherwax scored 10 points for Clintonville, and Erin Viergutz grabbed a team-high nine rebounds.

“We shot 20 of 23 from the free throw line, but from everywhere else we really weren’t shooting great,” Yaeger said. “Oconto Falls is a solid team, and they shot way better than us tonight.”

Clintonville earned a No. 8 seed and will play No. 9 Xavier at home on Tuesday, Feb. 19 at 7 p.m. in a regional quarterfinal game.
