Hansen, Mervin Eugene

Mervin Eugene Hansen, age 81 of Sun Prairie, WI, passed away on Thursday, March 7, 2019 after a short battle with cancer and surrounded by his family.

He was a quiet and dignified man who dealt with people with kindness and patience. Son of Aage and Anna Hansen, Mervin graduated from Scandinavia High School. He was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Klaudeen Grenlie on July 4, 1959. Early in his professional life, he worked as a potato inspector. He spent the majority of his life driving semi-truck cross country, hauling food and shoes with wingman, Don Blair. Mervin knew the interstates and highways of the United States like the back of his hand. Retirement years were spent setting up many quilt conventions from Arizona to Pennsylvania. He also enjoyed road-trips with Klaudeen, especially loving the southwestern states, National Parks and historic sites.

Mervin is lovingly remembered by Klaudeen, his devoted wife of almost 60 years; his children, Michael Hansen of Silver City, MI and Janell (David) Weinberger of Sun Prairie, WI; grandchildren: Jessi Weinberger of Sun Prairie, WI; Joey (Whitney) Weinberger of Downing, WI; Jacob (Rietta) Weinberger of Olympia, WA; Mitch (Haley Miller) Hansen of Beaver Dam, WI and David (Alexandra Gheorghe) Hansen of Milwaukee, WI; great-grandchildren, Scarlette and Oliver Eugene Hansen; sister Joyce Anderson; brothers, Howard (Dottie) Hansen, Harlan (Lola) Hansen, Frank (Jan) Hansen and Jerry Hansen and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Aage and Anna Hansen; sister Rosie; son Robert and daughter Ellen.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 13, 2019 at 2 p.m. at the Holly Funeral Home in Waupaca, WI. Pastor Dione Miller will officiate. A visitation will be held on Wednesday from 12 p.m. until the time of the service at 2 p.m. at the Holly Funeral Home in Waupaca, WI. A burial will be held in the spring at Scandinavia Lutheran Cemetery.
