Olson, Nancy Elizabeth

Nancy Elizabeth Olson died on July 30, 2019 in Sugar Land, Texas at the age of 64, surrounded by her family.

She leaves behind her son, John Cody Lewis; her sister, Lisa Moellering; her brother, Mark Olson; her former spouse, John Lewis; her beloved dog Winston, and her dear father, Lt/Col Neale E. Olson. She is preceded in death by her mother.

Nancy was born on January 29, 1955 in Tucson, Arizona, to father Neale Olson and mother Marilyn Pugmire Olson. In college, she exhibited an intense interest in anthropology and archaeology and graduated from the University of Texas with a degree in Anthropology in 1980. Nancy initially made her home in Texas, but spent most of her adult life on the Southwest Gulf Coast, eventually moving to the quaint fishing village of Goodland, Florida. Nancy began her career with the Collier County Museum as Curator of Education, later moving into a position as a Senior Park Ranger – Naturalist and eventually was promoted to Parks Regional Manager of Beach and Water, where she managed the Park Ranger Service, Sea Turtle Monitoring Program and Conservation Collier. Nancy was a true professional and also had a love of gardening, books, antiques, and football, especially her Green Bay Packers. Nancy was a fierce friend, daughter, mother, and sister.

Nancy requested to be cremated. Her ashes will be interred in Saxeville Union Cemetery, adjacent to St John’s Lutheran Church, in Saxeville, Wisconsin. A brief service will be held at graveside on September 14, 2019 at 2:30 p.m. A reception will follow. The family would especially like to thank Silverado Hospice for their attentive and loving care.
