Farm to Table

Dinner to be held under tent on Main Street

The fourth annual Farm to Table Dinner will be held Thursday, Sept. 5, in downtown Waupaca.

It will take place under a tent on North Main Street at Session Street.

The event will begin at 6 p.m. with registration, appetizers and refreshments.

Entertainment will be provided by a local ukulele group.

Dinner will be served at 7 p.m.

A total of 115 tickets will be available.

Tickets are $40 per person and go on sale Monday, Aug. 19, at the Waupaca Area Chamber of Commerce.

Those buying tickets there have to pay with cash or checks payable to Living the Waupaca Way.

People may also purchase tickets at the Waupaca Farmers Market.

The market is held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays, in front of the public library and city hall.

Those buying tickets at the market may pay by cash, check or credit/debit card.

Living the Waupaca Way, ThedaCare, Waupaca Rotary Club and Waupaca Farmers Market are sponsoring the dinner.

“Get them quickly. They always sell out,” Lindsey Pietrzak said of the tickets.

She manages the farmers market and is chairing the dinner.

“Farm market farmers and vendors will be in attendance, and farmers will be invited to speak about their farms,” Pietrzak said.

New this year is the opportunity to sponsor a farmer to attend the dinner.

“If you buy two tickets for $80 and round it up to $100, that extra $20 goes toward a farmer’s ticket,” Pietrzak said.

Promotes local farmers, healthy food

The Farm to Table Dinner promotes local farmers, encourages the purchase of fresh and organic food from local farmers and promotes better community health.

Chef Sal from the Green Fountain Inn will prepare the four-course dinner, with assistance from visiting Fox Cities chefs.

“Everything will be locally sourced – except the salt,” Pietrzak said of the dinner. “The goal is for the majority of the produce to be purchased from the farm market vendors.”

Waupaca’s FFA members will serve the dinner.

The glasses, napkins and plates for the appetizers and desserts will be compostable, she said.

The tables scraps will be composted and given to the community garden, she said.

The dinner will also include door prizes (farmers market gift certificates) and a silent auction.

Local businesses interested in donating items for the silent auction may contact Pietrzak at [email protected] or 715-258-4433.

Payment for silent auction items will also be cash, check or credit/debit.

Proceeds from this year’s dinner will fund SNAP double dollar days at the farmers market.
