Hit and run near Waupaca airport
Deputies found the body of an unidentified woman early Sunday morning, Sept. 15, on U.S. Highway 10.
Earlier, a 911 caller reported that a woman was walking along U.S. 10 near Fleet Farm.
Waupaca police and Waupaca County deputies responded to the area and attempted to locate the woman.
At 1:42 a.m. Sunday, a second caller reported that someone may have been hit by a vehicle near the Waupaca airport.
According to evidence at the scene and witness statements, an unidentified vehicle struck the woman on the south shoulder of the highway.
The Wisconsin State Patrol assisted at the scene to conduct a traffic crash reconstruction.
The crash remains under investigation.
