Park event planned in Dayton

Greater Waupaca Area Parks and Trails will celebrate gifts to Parfreyville Park from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 29.

The park is located at the intersection of County Trunk K, Rural Road and Smith road on the Crytal River in the town of Dayton.

Area businesses have donated ice cream and water,  along with biking and hiking related items for a silent auction.

Janet Buetow donated the picnic table  in memory of Firefighter Karl Buetow.

Dave and Ann Armstrong and Raymond and Loanna Benjamin donated the benches.

The benches were constructed and the picnic table assembled at Rawhide Boys Ranch. The boys also delivered and installed the items at the park.

The plaques identifying the donors were engraved at Oshkosh Correctional Institution in Ben Achten’s inmate engraving class.

The park is frequently used for accessing the Crystal River, but there has never been a place to picnic or sit by the river.
