Jensen, Betty Jane

Betty Jane Jensen of Waupaca, age 90, died peacefully at home on Friday, September 27, 2019, after a long battle with cancer and Alzheimer’s disease.

She was born in Sheboygan on August 22, 1929 to the late Edwin and Amanda (Reinhart) Rudie. Betty was proud of growing up on a farm and graduated from Manawa High school at age 16. She did office work until moving to Waupaca and marrying LeRoy. She worked at Woody’s Cheese after her children started school. She liked snowmobiling, playing cards, dancing and Friday night fish frys. She was a member of Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church.

She is survived by her daughters, Ellen Wilson of Waupaca and Darlene Schmaltz of Riverview, FL; grandchildren: Amber (Ron) Ormsby of Whitefish Bay, WI; David (Kathy) Wilson of Waupaca; Patrick (Chansoriya) Wilson of Riverview, FL; Brad (Michelle) Wilson of Stevens Point; six great-grandchildren; siblings: Sterling (Mary Lou) Rudie, Faith (Duane) Brown, June Kaepernick, Iver (Diane) Rudie, sister-in-law, Ann Rudie, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, LeRoy “Bud” Jensen; brothers, David and Leslie Rudie; son-in-law, Robert Schmaltz; brothers and sisters-in-law, Claude and Lisa Jensen, Oscar and Maxine Jensen, Annie and Hazen Towne, George and Alvina Richter, Frank and Alma Dlouhy, George and Lucille Horvath, Duaine Kaepernick and Genevieve Rudie.

The Funeral Service will be on Tuesday, October 1, 2019 at 11 a.m. at Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church, 1120 Evans St., Waupaca. The visitation will be on Monday at the Maple Crest Funeral Home from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. and again on Tuesday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral. Burial will be in Barton Cemetery. Her kind and gentle spirit will be missed. Thank you to all who helped through this long journey.
