Suspect charged with burglary

Waupaca man accused of breaking into grandfather’s home

Jordan T.D. Schneider, 25, Waupaca, faces two separate felony cases.

Schneider is charged with identity theft and credit card theft for a Sept. 11 incident.

He is also charged with burglary and obstructing an officer for an alleged July 26 offense.

On Sept. 11, Waupaca Police Sgt. Brent Krueger was dispatched to the 800 block of Ware Street.

Krueger spoke with a 20-year-old woman who said Schneider stole her debit card and withdrew $100 from her bank account.

The woman accused Schneider’s girlfriend, Nichole L. Wetzel, 34, Waupaca, of being involved.

According to the criminal complaint, the woman gave her pin number over the phone to someone who was trying to pay her via Facebook.

The woman believed Schneider and Wetzel, who were nearby, may have heard her.

She said she left the room for a few minutes. When she returned, the debit card was missing from her purse and Schneider was gone.

The woman called her mother, who checked her bank account and found that $100 had been withdrawn from an ATM at the Kwik Trip on Fulton Street in Waupaca.

Video surveillance showed Schneider withdrawing money from the ATM.

When Krueger questioned Wetzel about the incident, she denied that she or Schneider were involved in stealing the debit card.

Wetzel was later charged with obstructing an officer.

On Oct. 1, the district attorney’s office filed a motion to revoke Wetzel’s deferred prosecution agreement for a forgery uttering offense.

Schneider told Krueger the woman owed him money and gave him permission to use the card.

The woman said she did owe Schneider $10, but would not have paid him back by handing him her ATM card.

Burglary

On July 26, Waupaca County Deputy Kyle Wiskirchen was dispatched to a home on County Trunk E in Lind.

According to the criminal complaint, Schneider’s grandfather and mother said they suspected Schneider because he broke into their home a few years earlier.

Schneider allegedly removed a screen and entered the home through a window, damaging venetian blinds and a curtain rod in the process.

Wiskirchen began searching the area for Schneider and found him walking along County E.

Schneider allegedly took off running.

When Wiskirchen found Schneider in a garage, he began running again.

Eventually, Wiskirchen and Waupaca Police Officer Wesley Zube arrested Schneider after they found him lying in tall grass on County B.

Schneider was released from custody on a $5,000 signature bond.
