Author releases ‘Wolf River Days’

Book signing set for Oct. 20 in New London

By John Faucher

Enola Steinbach will host a book signing from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 20 at Familiar Grounds Coffee and Gifts in New London.

“Wolf River Days” is her sixth title published by Eber and Wein Publishing.

Steinbach, age 90, has degrees in commercial art and writing.

She was born and raised in New London, where she owned and operated Holiday Murals for over 40 years. She painted commercially in fifteen cities during her commercial art career, something she said she thoroughly enjoyed until her retirement.

After retirement she pursued a degree in writing and has since authored books titled, “Memory Lane,” “My Lord Jesus,” “The Harmony King,” “Elsa” and “Redeemer.”

She has also won several national awards for her poetry and is a member of the International Society of Poets.

Steinbach, daughter of the late musician Arthur Phillip Kopitzke, “The Harmony King,” is also a lover of music.

She is a life long member of Emanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in New London and has written Gospel songs for her congregation throughout the years.

Her hobbies include music, poetry, books, flower gardening and photography.

She is a founding member of the Wolf River Art League in New London and still exhibits in the annual shows.

Steinbach’s recent book, “Wolf River Days” reminisces days on the Wolf River with her family watching the boat races in Fremont and the Venetian boat parades in New London back in the 1950s and ‘60s.

The book which took her two years to write also dives into the colorful history of the Wolf River and the prominence of river boats that once plied its waters.

Steinbach compiled research for her book with the help of the New London Public Museum, The New London Heritage Historical Society, the New London Press Star and writings by the late Raymond Quandt and Leona Mech.

“I’m down to earth,” said Steinbach. “I like to keep my writing natural so people can feel what I’m writing.”

Copies of her recent book will be on sale for $15 at Sunday’s book signing.
