State prisoner faces new felony charges

Cody R. Thompson, 28, Redgranite Correctional, is charged with felony child neglect, possession of methamphetamine with intent, felony possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

On Feb. 21, New London police reported finding 5.5 grams of meth, 3.6 grams of marijuana and a loaded syringe in Thompson’s home.
They also found a child who was almost 3 years old.

According to the Oct. 17 criminal complaint, Thompson told investigators that he made multiple drug deals from his house, located across the street from Parkview Elementary School in New London.

On Sept. 17, 2018, Waupaca County placed Thompson on three years of probation for felony bail jumping. The court revoked his probation on April 23, 2019, and sentenced him to 18 months in prison.

On Sept. 6, 2018, Outagamie County placed Thompson on two years of probation for possession of meth, marijuana and drug paraphernalia. The court revoked his probation on June 25, 2019, and sentenced him to 1 1/2 years in prison to run concurrent with his Waupaca County sentence.

In January 2016, a federal court sentenced Thompson to 2 1/2 years in prison for his involvement in a Portage County heroin distribution ring.

Thompson is scheduled for mandatory release to extended supervision on Aug. 22, 2020, according to the state Department of Corrections.

If convicted of all three felony charges filed on Oct. 17, Thompson could serve up to 20 years in prison and extended supervision.
