Man charged with battery

Suspect accused of using brass knuckles on his boss

Demerray J. Gilliam, 34, Wild Rose, is charged with substantial battery with a dangerous weapon, disorderly conduct with a dangerous weapon, carrying a concealed weapon and criminal damage to property.

Shortly after 10:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 28, a 911 caller reported an Alliance Industries employee punched a supervisor in the face with brass knuckles.

Waupaca Police Officer Matt Batte, Weyauwega Police Officer Elmer Kerberlein and Sgt. Andrew Thorpe, with the Waupaca County Sheriff’s Office, responded.

When he was taken into custody, Gilliam had a pocket knife and brass knuckles in his pocket, according to the criminal complaint.

Gilliam reportedly told Batte that the supervisor had relations with his girlfriend.

The supervisor had a gash on his face and a broken nose.

He said Gilliam followed him into the front office, punched him in the face and accused him of “trying to get with my woman.”

The supervisor said he did not know what Gilliam was talking about.

Gilliam was released from custody on a $2,000 signature bond.
