Suspect charged with battery

Convicted felon accused of beating his father

Taylor P. Pingel, 23, Clintonville, is charged with second-degree reckless endangerment, felony strangulation, misdemeanor battery and disorderly conduct as acts of domestic abuse.

According to the criminal complaint, Pingel was dropped off at his father’s home in the town of Larrabee at 9 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 5.

His father told Waupaca County Deputy Clint Schroeder that Pingel was carrying a half empty bottle of whiskey and appeared highly intoxicated.

Pingel was prohibited from being at his father’s home due to prior domestic abuse incidents.

Pingel continued drinking and then started screaming at his father. Pingel allegedly punched him hard enough to cause a black eye.

When his father asked Pingel why he did that, Pingel reportedly responded by throwing a soup can across the room and hitting him in the face.

When the father put on a jacket to leave the house, Pingel dumped the remaining booze all over him. He then went outside and turned off the power to the house, the complaint says.

Pingel later allegedly knocked his father to the floor, punched him repeatedly and choked him.

Schroeder reported the father had “a very raspy voice and could barely talk.”

The father told Schroeder he went into his bedroom, afraid Pingel would attack him again.

Pingel “continued to walk around the house ‘patrolling’ to make sure his dad would not leave and report the event,” the complaint says.

Pingel faces up to 10 years in prison for reckless endangerment.

He remains in custody on a $750 cash bond.
