Indians fall in OT

Bonduel wins in Weyauwega

Down by 17 points at halftime, it looked like the Weyauwega-Fremont boys’ basketball team was well on its way to a second Central Wisconsin Conference East Division loss in three days.

Bonduel headed into the locker room Dec. 12 with a 42-25 lead, but had to outscore the Indians 7-6 in overtime before returning home with a 69-68 win.

Weyauwega-Fremont also opened division play Dec. 10 with a 83-56 loss to Shiocton.

Bonduel 69, W-F 68 (OT)

Bonduel ended the first half with a 9-0 run and led by as many as 19 points early in the second half, but the Indians used a 19-5 run to cut the lead to 53-48.

The Indians tied the game three times in the final five minutes of regulation and the teams headed into overtime tied at 62-62.

The lead changed hands six times in the four-minute extra period.

Michael Schalkowski’s basket with 33 seconds gave the Indians a 68-67 lead, but Bonduel’s Cole Letter made a pair of free throws on the Bears’ next possession that gave Bonduel the lead for good.

Quinn Dittmann led the Indians with 23 points, while Schalkowski added 17 and Ethan Feltz finished with 14.

Letter led all scorers with 34 points.

Shiocton 83, W-F 56

Shiocton outscored Weyauwega-Fremont 41-27 in the first half and 42-29 in the second half.

Dittmann led the Indians with 16 points, while Feltz and Logan Krause added 11 and 10, respectively.

Caden Schmidt led Shiocton with 23 points.

The Indians faced Manawa Dec. 17 and will travel to Iola-Scandinavia Friday, Dec. 20.
