Wega-Fremont boys, Manawa girls split basketball games

A longtime tradition between two area high school basketball programs is alive and well.
Little Wolf High School in Manawa hosted the annual Rock the Gym event that included boys’ and girls’ varsity and junior varsity games with Weyauwega-Fremont.
Manawa won the girls’ varsity game 42-29, while the Weyauwega-Fremont boys’ varsity team picked up a 67-64 win.

Manawa took a 20-18 lead into the locker room at halftime before outscoring the Indians 22-11 over the final 18 minutes.
Mikayla Wegener and Josie Nichols led Manawa with 12 and 10 points, respectively, while Weyauwega-Fremont’s Katie Bleck led all scorers with 16.
W-F 67, Manawa 64
Manawa’s Mason Wiesner scored 19 of his game-high 30 points in the second half, but it wasn’t enough, as the Indians overcame a late five-point deficit.
The Indians led 35-27 at halftime, but Manawa had a 37-32 advantage in the second half.
Weyauwega-Fremont led by as many as 10 points in the second half, but Manawa eventually built a 55-50 lead.
However, Ethan Feltz scored eight straight points that gave the Indians the lead for good.
Feltz led four Weyauwega-Fremont players in double figures with 23 points. Michael Schalkowski added 15 points, while Quinn Dittmann and Logan Krause finished with 13 and 10, respectively.
Bracyn Haas had 11 points for Manawa.
