Public hearing on SRO

Meeting slated for 6 p.m. Monday in Manawa

The Manawa School Board will hold a public listening session at 6 p.m. Monday, Jan. 6, at the Manawa Elementary School board room.

District residents are invited to speak on hiring a school resource officer (SRO) for the district.

Upon arrival at the meeting, those wishing to speak on the topic of an SRO need to sign in at the door.

Board President Joanne Johnson will call upon residents in the order in which they are signed up.

Speakers will be asked to state their name, address and group affiliation (when appropriate) for the record.

The only topic of this listening session is the school resource officer program.

Participants shall direct all comments to the board and not to staff or other participants. All statements shall be directed to the presiding officer. No person may address or question board members individually.

Citizens who wish to make a comment but is unable to attend Monday’s session, may email or hand deliver a written statement that includes the author’s name, address, and group affiliation along with a printed statement not to exceed three minutes in length as per Bylaw 0167.3. The statement will be read aloud at the meeting by the board member representing that constituent’s municipality.
