New London girls defeat Shawano

The New London girls’ basketball team is back to .500 on the season following a 75-35 home win over Shawano Jan. 17.

Shawano scored the game’s first give points, but the Bulldogs answered with a 14-0 run to take a nine-point lead and the Hawks never got any closer than eight points the rest of the way.

The Bulldogs improved to 5-3 in Bay Conference play and 7-7 overall with the win.

New London outscored the Hawks 39-18 in the first half and 36-17 in the second.

BreAnna Hacker led the Bulldogs with 20 points, while Samantha Pfefferle and Lizzie Steingraber added 12 and 10, respectively.

Rachel Reed led Shawano with 12 points.

The Bulldogs will host West De Pere at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 21, and host Antigo at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 28.
