Peterson, Lucille Elaine

Lucille E. Peterson, 95, of Black River Falls, WI passed away on February 7, 2020 at Meadowbrook.

She was born May 26, 1925 to Elmer and Ellen (Hebblewhite) Hansen in Amherst Junction, WI. She was raised in Portage, WI where she helped on the family farm and graduated from high school. She moved to California during WWII where she worked for the railroad. On April 30, 1949, she married Harvey Peterson in Waupaca, WI. Together they had four children. He preceded her in death on January 1, 1978 in Black River Falls. Lucille drove bus for the Black River Falls school district for twenty-six years. In addition to her daily bus route, she also drove for extra-curricular events. She was a member of the Black River Falls Evangelical Lutheran Church, where she was involved in the sewing circle and often made baked goods for the church. Always on the go, Lucille was very acrive. She loved bowling and was part of several different leagues, including the “Alleycats”, competing in both state and national bowling tournaments. She also enjoyed to travel, visiting thirty different countries and five continents. However, spending time with family was important and what Lucille moved the most.

Lucille is survived by her son, Douglas Peterson of Black River Falls, WI; daughters, Sandra Peterson of Stanley, WI; Rebecca (William) Galster of Black River Falls, WI and Denise Grover of Onalaska, WI; sister, Beverly (Leonard) Lane of McFarland, WI; granddaughter, Amy (Aaron) Kirby; and four great-grandchildren, Cody St. Michael, Dominic (Danielle) Franco, Olivia Kirby and Garon Kirby, all of Wisconsin; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her brothers, Vernon “Husky” Hansen and Louis Hansen; sister, Eva Peterson; and grandson, Evans “Tony” Littlegeorge.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 13, 2020 at the Black River Falls Evangelical Lutheran Church with Pastor Steve Rutter officiating. Burial will follow in the Riverside Cemetery in Black River Falls. There will be a visitation at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Memorials can be made to the Meadowbrook Activities Department. Torgerson’s Funeral Home of Black River Falls is assisting the family with arrangements.
