The Iola-Scandinavia Thunderbirds winning streak came to an end with a 77-62 loss to the Shiocton Chiefs on Thursday, Feb. 27.
Shiocton had a 42-31 lead at the half, led by Derek Bedor who scored 22 of his game high 31 points.
In the second half, the Chiefs outscored I-S 35-31 to take the win.
Topping the scoring for I-S was Justin Sivertson and Connor Kurki with 20 points each.
Leading the way for Shiocton was Bedor with 31 followed by Austin Van Den Bosch with 21.
“This was a tough one to lose tonight to the very good Shiocton team,” said I-S Coach Sam Bertsch. “They came out and shot the lights out. We were not able to defend that and bounce back.”
With the loss the T-Birds will share the conference title with Shiocton.
The teams will now move into Division 4 regional play for the WIAA Boys Basketball Tournament.
“There is a really good chance that we will meet up again with Shiocton in the sectional semi-final,” said Bertsch. “It would be good for the conference if we can do this, so that is what we are going to aim for. We have to get on a roll to go on in the play-offs.”
