Soccer team to play in Muskego

The Hortonville boys’ soccer team is one win away from the program’s first-ever trip to state.
The Polar Bears defeated Slinger 4-1 Oct. 29 in a WIAA Division 1 sectional semifinal in Slinger and will now face Arrowhead at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31, in a sectional final at Muskego High School. Hortonville is a No. 2 seed in its tournament bracket, while Slinger was seeded first. Arrowhead is a No. 2 seed.
Sectional final winners will advance to the WIAA Boys’ Soccer State Championships, set for Saturday, Sept. 7. The Division 1 state semifinal and championship games will be played in Oconomowoc.
• In another sectional semifinal with an area team, top-seeded Seymour ended Waupaca’s season by handing the third-seeded Comets a 7-1 loss Oct. 29 in Seymour.
