Kevin Thomas Schmoldt was finally at peace in his wife’s arms on Saturday, November 7, 2020.
Kevin was born on January 25, 1964 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The son of the late Ronald and Betty Ann Schmoldt, Kevin was the youngest of seven children. He is survived by his brothers: Robert, Ronald (Susan), James, Steve (Terri), and his special sister Mary Beth (Scott) Hartwig. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Richard. On June 15, 2002, Kevin married his wife Jodi (Guell). They had a son, Erich Daniel, and twin daughters, Bethany Sarah and Jessica Ann. Kevin was also preceded in death by his son Michael, and his favorite mother-in-law, Judith Marquard. Kevin had many influential people in his life who helped shape him into the person we knew and loved. Including but not limited to Paul, Jerry, and Suzie Petted, Craig and Kathy Bruesiwitz, and very special adopted parents, Harry and Sophie Biluczake.
Kevin loved being in nature, working in his garden, and teaching his children how to appreciate the world in which we live in. He was a very talented artist, chef, and musician. Anyone who enjoyed one of his various works of art can attest to that. He always had his own way of doing things, which made him unique beyond comparison. Kevin obtained a Bachelor’s degree of Fine Arts (with Honors) at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. He loved to paint portraits of people. Some of his finest works were portraits of his children, his late mother-in-law, his wife with the beloved family dog Sassy, and his life-long hero, Henry Winkler (The Fonz), the latter of which he got to meet back in 2018. Kevin was taught to drywall by his late brother Richard (Boo). He was infinitely grateful for this skill, which enabled him to return to college to pursue a second degree, this time in physical therapy. He studied at Northeast Wisconsin Technical College (NWTC). He utilized his position to help people regain their freedom and independence when they returned home after their hospital stays. This career fit him perfectly, as he was never one to shy away from helping others in need. He was the physical embodiment of kindness and compassion. Kevin was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia on July 18, 2019. After beating it not once, but twice, and handling several bouts with Graph v. Host disease, Kevin became infected with a fungal pnuemonia known as a mucor. After battling it for several weeks, Kevin died in his wife’s presence. Kevin was passionate about education, especially that of students at Iola-Scandinavia School District. He showed that by substituting there for several years. He would love to give a huge shout out to the wonderful community that helped support him through his fight which he battled with courage and bravery. Kevin is survived by his family and many other friends.
The family is planning a celebration of life for Kevin sometime after the pandemic, as per his request. For now they will be holding a drive-by memorial to honor him on Saturday, November 14, 2020.
