George Skokan, age 90, passed away peacefully of natural causes on Monday, December 28, 2020 at Shawano Place Senior Living, Shawano, WI. Born June 30, 1930 in Chicago, IL, he was the youngest child of Frank and Anna (Fish) Skokan. George was a long time resident of the Clintonville, WI area, since 1970.
George enlisted in the US Army and served in Austria after WWII. He was united in marriage to Geraldine Bednarek in 1956 in Chicago, IL. George very much enjoyed the outdoors, exploring antique and collectible shops, perusing garage sales, attending car shows, and building his model car collection.
He is survived by his five sons: Keith, Wisconsin Dells; James, Appleton; Carl, Yorba Linda, CA; Alan, Burlingame, CA; and George Jr., Denver, CO. Also survived by his grandchildren: Adam Skokan, Littleton, CO; Alyssa Schmidt, Appleton; Paul Skokan, Wisconsin Dells; Lindsey Skokan, San Diego, CA; Morgan Skokan, Englewood, CO; Alex Skokan, Racine; Kennedy Skokan, Clintonville; and Milana Skokan, Burlingame, CA; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. George was preceded in death by Geraldine and his parents; his brother, Irvin; his sisters: Irene Rench, Dorothy Wastak, Margaret Slenk, and Evelyn Favia; and his grandson, Sean Skokan.
We thank all the staff at Shawano Place, and ThedaCare at Home and Hospice who cared for our dad during this last stage of his life. The family has chosen private remembrances of George and no formal services will be held.
