No candidate files for District 3

Two contested council seats in New London

By Robert Cloud

Three incumbent members of the New London Common Council will not seek re-election this spring.

Ald. Lori Dean in District 3, Mike Pinch in District 4 and Dave Morack in District 5 will not appear on the April 6 ballot.

In District 1, Robert Besaw is seeking re-election against Kenneth Bentzler.

In District 2, Billie Olson is challenging incumbent Tom O’Connell.

In District 4, Tim Roberts is running unopposed.

In District 5, Bernard Ritchie, Jr. is running unopposed.

According to City Administrator Chad Hoerth, “As of this point no one has filed papers for District 3.”

Hoerth said residents may “write in” a candidate.

City staff are currently reviewing what the write-in process entails.

“We’ll get the word out in the future so people know what to do if they would like to be a write-in candidate,” Hoerth said.
