Lorraine May (Hanson) Jones, age 92, died peacefully at home on Tuesday, February 2, 2021.
Lorraine was born on May 17, 1928 to Leland and Ella Hanson. She graduated as the class valedictorian from Waupaca High School in 1946. She met Edward Jones, her future husband, at the Indian Crossing Casino after he returned from World War II. They were married on June 21, 1947. Edward and Lorraine celebrated 58 years of marriage prior to his passing in 2005. Edward and Lorraine, along with Lorraine’s parents, founded Hanson and Jones, a retail farm equipment dealership, in Manawa in 1952. That business evolved into Jones Farm Store, Inc. Lorraine worked as the vice-president and farm equipment parts person until 2006. Lorraine enjoyed reading, word puzzles, Scrabble where she delighted in playing seven-letter words, card games and jigsaw puzzles. For 43 years, Lorraine maintained and relished the use of a seasonal campsite at Casey Lake Campground near Ogdensburg.
Survivors include her daughter, Mary Jones, Appleton; son-in-law, Van Johnson, Manawa; granddaughter, Ann (Brian) Melewski, Neenah; and great-grandchildren, Brandon and Sarah Melewski, Neenah. Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and daughter, Nancy Johnson.
