Ian Teal will present “The Gerold Opera House Weyauwega” at 6:45 p.m. Monday, Feb. 15.

Organizers note that the program’s start time has been changed.

Hosted by Winchester Academy, this program will be presented virtually, due to concerns related to the pandemic.

Teal is executive director of the Weyauwega Arts Organization, which currently owns and operates the Gerold Opera House.

Opera houses were a source for live entertainment in rural America starting in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

Teal’s program will cover a brief history of opera houses and will go into depth about the history of the 1915 Gerold Opera House in Weyauwega.

The history of Weyauwega and the surrounding area will also be addressed, as well as what role the Gerold plays in the community today.

The broadcast can be heard on WILW 96.3 FM or viewed on WIN-TV, Facebook Live, or YouTube. Viewers can visit www.winchesterwaupaca.org for a hotlink to the program.

Questions to the speaker may be submitted via Facebook or phoned in to 715-942-9917 during the program.

Teal’s program is sponsored by Pat Hollenbeck.
