Schoenrock, Vernetta R.

Vernetta R. Schoenrock, age 101, of Eland passed away Wednesday evening, March 17, 2021 at Care Partners Assisted Living, Clintonville.

The former Vernetta Romaine Schmidt was born on September 27, 1919 in the Town of Dupont, Waupaca County, to William and Ida (Brandenburg) Schmidt. She grew up in the Town of Dupont and attended Lake Michael School. In the mid 1940’s she was united in marriage to Arthur Schoenrock and the couple were blessed with four children. Vernetta and Arthur lived most of their married life in the Town of Dupont. She also lived for several years in West Allis and Clintonville. In 2009 Vernetta settled in the rural Eland area.

Vernetta is a former member of St. John Lutheran Church, Marion, and St. Martin’s Lutheran Church, Clintonville. Currently, she was the oldest member of St. John Lutheran Church, Tigerton. Vernetta enjoyed working in her garden; whether it was growing beautiful flowers or the biggest vegetables. She cherished attending Schmidt Family Reunions whenever possible. Vernetta also loved animals; especially her many cats over the years.

Survivors include three children: Sandra (Edwin) Polk of Clintonville, Karrie Schoenrock of Crystal Falls, MI, and Terry Schoenrock of Eland. There are 6 grandchildren: Dick (Renee) Fowler, Nannette Hoch, Jesse (Toni) Schoenrock, Christy Berndt, Shelley Berndt, and Steven Berndt. There are 9 great grandchildren: Brittany, Brett, Kira, Kayla, Kyle, Kaz, Denati, Kalvin, and William. She is further survived by 6 great-great grandchildren; several cousins; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Vernetta was preceded in death by her husband Arthur in 1991; an infant daughter Gail; and eight siblings: Clara (Charles) Lemke, Frieda (Herb) Brockhaus, Hilda (Norman) Aasterud, Lorena (William) Liebert, William Schmidt, Irvin Schmidt, and two stillborn Richard and Edward Schmidt.

Graveside Service will be held at a later date at St. John’s Trinity Cemetery, Town of Dupont, and Rev. Dean Suehring will officiate.
