Gussert named Alumnus Honoris

Clintonville selects 1987 graduate for award

The Clintonville Public School District selected Andrew Gussert for the Alumnus Honoris Award.

Gussert is a 1987 graduate of Clintonville Senior High School. He was the second of three children adopted by Dick and Ginger Gussert.

He was president of the Clintonville High School Student Council.

As president, Gussert was active in promoting enthusiasm for the school while monitoring school assemblies and providing pre-game skits at basketball games.

Gussert attended Lawrence University where he graduated in 1991 with a double major in philosophy and government.

He then entered Hamlin University in St. Paul, Minnesota. He achieved the Dean’s List while being elected student representative to the American Bar Association.

After one year at Hamlin, he moved to Miami School of Law where he earned his law degree in 1996.

As Guardian ad Litem in Dade County, Florida, he advocated for the best interests of children in family court abuse cases, performed investigative research and interviewed witnesses.

From 2003-2007, Gussert served as a board member for the Vera Court Community Center in Madison providing pro bono services to help youth at the community center.

Among his commendations were letters from Richard Warch, former president of Lawrence University Community Council, a former U.S. senator, a former state Senate Majority Leader and a former state assistant attorney general.

In 2019, he was recognized as the National Professional of the Year by the Boys and Girls Clubs of America.

Gussert has been appointed Wisconsin’s first director of the Boys and Girls Clubs.
He is responsible for fundraising, advocacy, government relations and mobilizations.
