Porath leads golfers in first two meets

The season has started for the New London boys’ golf team.
The Bulldogs competed in a pair of Bay Conference meets and placed fifth April 29 at De Pere’s Ledgeview Golf Course and fourth two days earlier at New London’s Shamrock Heights Golf Course.
Xavier edged West De Pere and Shawano by one stroke at Ledgeview. Xavier carded a 169, followed by West De Pere and Shawano (170), Seymour (182) and New London (193). Green Bay East had an incomplete team.
Ben Porath led New London with a round of 44, followed by Drew Freeman (49), Jonah Schlueter and Will Grable (50) and Chasen Pfefferle (51).
Seymour’s Garret Sigl had the medalist round with a 36.
Porath also led New London April 27 at the Bulldogs’ home course with a 41.
West De Pere won the meet with a 164, followed by Xavier (165), Shawano (176), New London (183) and Seymour (189).
New London’s other scores included Schlueter and Freeman (46), Pfefferle (50) and Mark Radke (63).
Xavier’s Charlie Schubbe led all golfers with a 37.
