Waupaca intersection closing again

Main and Fulton shut down beginning May 24

The intersection of Waupaca’s Main and Fulton streets is closing again, beginning Monday, May 24.

The closure is related to the reconstruction of Main Street, which is underway between Fulton and Water streets.

The intersection is expected to be closed for three weeks as Gerke Excavating completes the work it started there at the beginning of the project.

People may take Badger Street to Washington Street to Fulton Street during that time.

Drivers are reminded there is currently no power at the intersection of Fulton and Main streets.

It is being controlled with stop signs.

The signals at Badger and Main streets are in a four-way flash mode.

In addition to the work at Main and Fulton streets beginning May 24, new concrete sidewalk work is expected to begin that day as well.

All existing sidewalk is being removed before forms are installed and concrete is poured.

The process takes days to complete.

Water and sewer mains, as well as storm sewer pipes, continue to be installed.

The sewer and water lateral work was completed from Sessions to Granite streets, and lateral work was expected to start around the middle of this week from Sessions to Fulton streets.

Some sidewalk is being removed during the lateral work and then replaced with temporary asphalt.

UPDATE:  Startup date for the project was moved to May 24.
