Local July 4 festivities

Communities celebrate Independence Day

Communities throughout Waupaca County will celebrate Independence Day with parades, fireworks and entertainment.

Waupaca

The Independence Day parade lineup will begin at 9 a.m. Sunday, July 4, in the parking lots located at Waupaca Middle School and Waupaca Learning Center at 1149 Shoemaker Road.

The parade will start at 11 a.m., proceed west on Shoemaker Road, turn north on Churchill Street, then west on Royalton Street. The parade will end at Seventh Street.

After the parade, the Knights of Columbus will offer a chicken barbecue at South Park’s upper level.

The Knights run a concession at the park’s lower level in the evening.

Fireworks begin at South Park at 9:30 p.m.

New London

A fireworks display is set for Sunday, July 4, at Hatten Memorial Stadium at Hatten Park, 801 Werner-Allen Blvd., New London.

Guests are encouraged to bring a cooler, lawn chair and bug spray.

Gates open at 6:30 p.m. with no admission charge.

Clintonville

The Clintonville Athletic Club will hold a fireworks show Friday, July 2, at Olen Field-Don Jirschele Memorial stadium.

The A’s will run concessions that night, selling treats, drinks and beer. They will also be selling raffle tickets and 50/50 draws throughout the night.

For the safety of all residents who want to enjoy the fireworks that night, a section of Eighth Street right in front of the park will be barricaded, starting at 7:30 p.m.

Those who want to use the parking lot across from the field should be there before that time.

Iola

The Iola-Scandinavia Chamber of Commerce has announced this year’s fireworks show will take place at dusk, on Saturday, July 3, at Taylor Field. The rain date is Monday, July 5.

The evening will start off at 6 p.m. with a co-ed softball game between the Iola-Scandinavia High School classes of 2020 and 2021.

Manawa

The Mid-Western Rodeo offers family entertainment Thursday through Saturday, July 1-3, at Hoffmann Memorial Park, E5888 County Trunk B.

Fireworks are slated for 10 p.m. Thursday.

The rodeo parade will be held at 10 a.m. in downtown Manawa.

Weyauwega

Fireworks will start around 9:30 p.m. Saturday, July 3, over Weyauwega Lake.

Parking is available in the front parking area at Agropur, gravel lot at Taylor Cheese, city lot by the vacant IGA and St. Peter Lutheran Church and School paved lots.
