Gas leak reported in Waupaca

City hall/library building reopened

By Greg Seubert

A gas main leak reported in downtown Waupaca Tuesday, July 6, is not related to the city’s ongoing Main Street Construction project.

The Waupaca Fire Department responded to the leak, as well as the Waupaca Police Department and a crew from Wisconsin Public Service.

“There is a gas main leak downtown Waupaca,” according to a post on the city’s Facebook page shortly after the leak was reported. ”This is unrelated to the Main Street project. We are asking that the public avoid downtown Waupaca at this time. The City Hall-Library building is closed until this issue is resolved.”

The city updated the post at 10:37 a.m. with the following statement:

“We have received an all-clear regarding the gas leak. The problem has been resolved. The City Hall-Library building will reopen.”
