Williams, Kit A.

Kit A. Williams, age 63, of Scandinavia, passed away Tuesday, July 6, 2021.

He was born in Tuscola, IL on November 13, 1957 to Donald and Joan (Martin) Williams. On July 28, 1979, he was united in marriage to Christine Fischer and they were blessed with two sons. Affectionately referred to as “Poppy”, he was the best grandpa to his four granddaughters. As a wood worker his entire life, he built each of them their own toy box. He was a wonderful family man and friend, always lending a hand with projects. Family vacations were spent at the cabin in Tomahawk, where his favorite activity was driving around on the pontoon, listening to Johnny Cash. He also enjoyed driving out west, especially to his favorite destination, Yellowstone National Park. For many years he was a volunteer fireman and 1st responder with the Scandinavia Fire Department.

He will be dearly missed by his wife, Chris; son, Nate (Jennifer) Williams of Iola and their daughters, Maggie and Lizzy; son, Kyle Williams (Brooke Firkus) of Stevens Point and their daughters, Audrey and Riley; mother, Joan Gunderson of Scandinavia; siblings: Don Williams, Dan (Christine) Williams, Chris (Ken) Koch, Kathy (Todd) Shelto, Dan Frost, Pam Rusch, Margaret (Dave) Seidenkranz, Robert (Brenda) Frost, Patricia (Tom) Sebranek, Bruce Williams (Allison Ferg), Mike (Gwen) Williams, Deb Williams (Amy Olson), Cindy (Dan) Hurlbut, and Rick (Alice) Gunderson. Kit is further survived by his father and mother-in-law, George and Patricia Fischer; brothers and sisters-in-law: Guy (Jan) Fischer, Steve Fischer (Pam Wroblewski), Jane Fischer (Roger Nelson), Maureen (Todd) Gunderson, and Kurt (Heidi) Fischer; stepmother, Lois Williams; special aunt, Betty Gunderson; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Donald Williams; brother, Steve Williams; stepfather, Kenneth Gunderson; stepmother, Donna Williams; and special uncle, Pete Gunderson.

The funeral service will be held at 4 p.m., Thursday, July 15, 2021 at the Maple Crest Funeral Home, with Pastor Alyssa Weaver officiating. Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. until the time of the service.
