Gary R. Hansen, Oakdale, Calif., age 71, went to meet his Heavenly Father on Tuesday, August 31, 2021 after a battle with lung cancer, pneumonia and Covid.
Born September 16, 1949 to the late Gordon L. and Rose Hansen of Waupaca, he’s the oldest of three. He married Millie Sowell on June 19, 1971 in Turlock, Calif. Received his MBA in Financial Analysis from Stanislaus State College in Calif. They went to live in Waupaca, Wisconsin for a short time and then moved back to Modesto, Calif. to work at General Foods. Eventually he decided to be a Realtor. Must have really like it because he was still doing it till the day he passed away; over 41 years. He would make frequent trips back to Waupaca to see family and friends. But what he really loved to do was fish! In a boat, on a dock, on shore, as long as the line hit the water. He was a Gentleman famer, an avid reader and his favorite author was Louis L’Amour, loved computer games, karaoke, shooting pool, and loved to dance and socialize as much as he could. Every trip home meant going up to see his Best Friend and cousin Ron Christensen in the U.P.
Gary is survived by his three children: Christopher (Misty) Hansen, Stacee and Patrick; Suzanne (Mike) Ofeldt; Gary Jr (Bear) and his fiancée Andrea Bunte. Gary’s pride and joy was his grandson Gaidin Hansen, all of California; his sister Gloria (Hansen) Mihna and Chris of Hortonville; Aunt Lillian Ziebell, Waupaca; Rex Radley; cousin, nephews, nieces and friends. Gary was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ralph and Helga Hansen; parents, Gordon L. and Rose Hansen; sister Ginger Radley and many aunts, uncles and cousins. A Celebration of Life will be held in Modesto, Calif. at a later date. But, Gary’s wishes are to be brought back here to his childhood home for eternity.
