Jean Marie Roland, age 90, of New London, passed away on Sunday, October 17, 2021 peacefully surrounded by her loving family at Trinity Terrace in New London.
Jean was born on August 14, 1931 to the late Marvin and Sarah (Alexander) Edminster in Escanaba, MI. She was united in marriage to Robert Roland on December 26, 1957. He preceded her in death in 2017. Jean always had time for her grandchildren and their friends. She always had an open door and open heart. If you knew her you didn’t just like her, you loved her! Jean liked to knit, sew and tend her flowers. She formerly worked for the telephone company as a switchboard operator, and then was the “white haired lady” at the True Value Hardware Store for many years.
Jean is survived by her sons, Bruce (Judy) and Ned (Amy) and daughter, Susan (Dan) Wilfuer; six grandchildren, who she always said were straight from heaven, Sarah (Peter Jr.) Gubbels, Matt (Katie) Wilfuer, Austin (Miranda) Roland, Emily (Dustin) Millard, Michaela Roland and Alexa Roland; great-grandchildren, Vivian Gubbels, Nora Millard and baby Roland on the way and twin sister, Joan Johnson. Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; her parents; sister, Jane Perkins and brothers-in-law, Ronald Roland, Loy Johnson and Larry Perkins.
The funeral service for Jean will be held at 11:00 a.m. at Emanuel Lutheran Church in New London on Thursday, October 21, 2021 with Rev. Mark Tiefel officiating. Visitation will take place from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service directly at the church. Burial will be in Floral Hill Cemetery in New London.
