Miracle on Bridge Street

Holiday event returns to Manawa

By Holly Neumann

Planning is underway for Manawa’s annual Miracle on Bridge Street, which is set to take place on Saturday, Dec. 11.

The family event will feature activities around the City of Manawa, including Light Up the Night, adopt a resident, a parade, trolley rides and, new this year, a Christmas Ball.

Activities will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., followed by the parade at 5 p.m. and the Christmas Ball from 7-11 p.m.

Anyone wishing to hold an event on this day will need to contact Jamie Lane no later than Saturday, Nov. 6.

“I am not making any assumptions,” she said. “You are not automatically on the list if you’ve participated before. You will need to reach out to me if you want to be included this year.”

According to Lane, there are several ways to participate, including hosting an activity.

“Even if you don’t have a storefront, this is a great way to partner with a fellow business owner,” she said. “Reach out to another business and see what you can do. I know storefront businesses get swamped on this day, so partnerships are well received.”

To be included in the flyer and map, register online here.

“Need ideas, let me know,” Lane said. “I can help come up with something for you.”

Participants can also become a part of the parade.

“It’s really not that bad,” Lane said. “There is no expectation to have an elaborate float. Simply a vehicle with your business logo and lights is plenty. This year we are adding a side-by-side street show as well.”

Register for the parade online here.

Sponsors, donations needed

Participants can become a sponsor or donate, Lane said.

“We have lots of ideas, but these all take money,” she said. “We’d love for you to sponsor part of the day and we will help advertise it for you.”

Donations for Miracle on Bridge Street can be sent to Jamie Lane, N8722 State Road 110, Manawa, WI 54949.

Volunteers are also needed, Lane said.

“Giving of your time for this great event is greatly appreciated,” she said. “We need your help, especially for the parade.”
A volunteer dinner will also be provided on a future date.

Light Up the Night participants can register here.

The Christmas Ball will be held at the Manawa Masonic Center, 520 N. Bridge St.

Participants can dress up in their best formal wear and dance the night away at a Hallmark movie-inspired ball.

Tickets are $20 for ages 21 and older and includes two drinks; or $10 for 20 and under. Ages 5 and under can attend for free.

Tickets can be purchased by at www.eventbrite.com.

Tickets include DJ music, photo opportunities, hors d’oeuvres, deserts and a hot cocoa bar for kids and adults.
