Johnsons won’t run again

Two Manawa School Board members plan to step down in 2022

Two members of the Manawa School Board up for re-election in 2022 are not running for another term.

Board president Joanne Johnson and vice president Russ Johnson recently filed a Notification of Noncandidacy with the Manawa School District indicating that they will not seek another term.

Both terms expire in April 2022.

Joanne Johnson has been on the board since 2015, while Russ Johnson has been on the board since 2014.

Qualified candidates who wish to have their name appear on the election ballot for either seat must file all necessary forms at the district office, 800 Beech St., Manawa, no later than 5 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 4.

The election will be held Tuesday, April 5. If necessary, a primary election to narrow the candidates will be held Tuesday, Feb. 15.
