Thiel, Virginia

Virginia D. (Luebke) Thiel, age 92 of New London, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, January 17, 2022, at Neenah ThedaCare Hospital.

She was born on August 30, 1929, daughter of the late Clarence and Marie (Lueck) Luebke. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Peter’s Ev. Lutheran Church, Weyauwega. On June 18, 1949, Virginia was married to Elmer Thiel at St Peter’s Ev. Lutheran Church, Weyauwega; he preceded her in death in 2009. After marriage they moved to New London, Virginia worked in the office for over 35 years, at Edison Wood Products which became Simmons Juvenile Products; starting in the mailroom in 1948, then in sales and customer services; retiring in 1995 at 65. She later worked at Wal-Mart for 10 years as a cashier. She was a longtime member of Emanuel Lutheran Church, New London. Virginia was very proud of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. If you ever ran into Virginia and asked her about them she would tell you all about them with pride. She loved attending all their sporting events, was an avid Packer fan, and was the fantasy football commissioner, she knew every player in the league. She also enjoyed ceramics and collecting porcelain dolls.

Virginia is survived by two sons, Randy (Suzan) Thiel, and Jeff (Lisia) Thiel; six grandchildren: Bryan (Sami) Thiel, Heather (Kevin) Sibley, Stacey (Keith) Wilkins, Jake Thiel, Levi Thiel, and Ethan (Bridget) Thiel; great-grandchildren: Bryson Thiel, June and Ross Sibley, James Wilkins, Willa Thiel and a great-grandson on the way. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Elmer.

Funeral services will be held at Emanuel Lutheran Church, New London on Thursday, January 20, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. William Heiges officiating. Visitation will be held at Cline & Hanson Funeral Home on Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. and at the church on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
