McKay, LaRue “Lu” M.

LaRue “Lu” M. McKay, age 91 of the Cloverleaf Lakes in the Town of Belle Plaine, Shawano County, passed away Tuesday morning, February 1, 2022 at the ThedaCare Medical Center in Shawano.

LaRue Margaret Stromberg was born on December 23, 1930 in Milwaukee as the daughter of the late Raymond and Margaret (Meggison) Stromberg. She graduated from Juneau High School and went on to work for Allis-Chalmers in Milwaukee. Lu then met a United States Marine by the name of John “Jake” McKay. The couple were soon united in marriage on December 5, 1953 in Milwaukee. Jake’s career in the Marines took the couple all over the United States. Upon his retirement and discharge from service in the early 1970s, they moved to the Cloverleaf Lakes area where they have lived since. Lu was well known as a bookkeeper and secretary for the Cantwell Clinic in Shawano where she logged over 20 plus years prior to retirement. Aside from her job of keeping Jake in line, she simply loved spending time on the lake and taking care of her landscaping. Lu also enjoyed feeding the birds and squirrels at their home and had a soft spot for all the dogs they had over the years. She always put her family first and will take their love with her on her Heavenly journey.

Survivors include: her husband, John “Jake” McKay; children: Mike McKay, Sue (Jim) Clinton, and Steve (Kathy) McKay; grandchildren: Ryan Clinton, Carrie (Mike) Griepentrog, Brad (Amy McClain) Clinton, Jamie McKay, and Jesse McKay; great-grandchildren: Hailey, Taylor, Kylie, Bryson, Payton, Megan, Allison, Eleanor, Naomi, and Calvin; great-great-grandchild, Laynie; also siblings, Rae Marie Tomkiewicz and Rick (Gail) Stromberg.
