Fatal crash on U.S. 10

Driver killed near Weyauwega

One person was killed in a crash on U.S. Highway 10 and County Trunk F in the town of Weyauwega.

The Waupaca County Sheriff’s Office reported receiving multiple 911 calls shortly after 2:30 p.m. Friday, April 22.

According to investigators, a 75-year-old woman was driving westbound on U.S. 10 when she left the roadway, hit a guardrail, went down and embankment, traveled across the County F off ramp, descended another embankment and came to a stop in a field.

Deputies on the scene rendered medical aid to the driver, who had suffered severe injuries and was trapped in the vehicle.

Emergency personnel removed from her the vehicle.

The Waupaca County Medical Examiner pronounced her dead at the scene.

A 77-year-old male passenger was not injured in the crash.

The Waupaca County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Weyauwega Police Department, Weyauwega Fire Department, Gold Cross Ambulance Service, Waupaca County Medical Examiner’s Office and Waupaca County Highway Department.

No names have been released pending notification of family. The crash remains under investigation.
