Fire destroys shed

Firefighters control flames from spreading

The Manawa Rural Fire Department responded to a fire at 410 County Trunk N, at approximately 7:40 p.m. Sunday, April 24.

“Upon arrival, the shed was fully engulfed, with high winds blowing heavy smoke and embers towards a barn located east of the shed,” said Fire Chief Elect Josh Smith. “The barn had initially caught on fire but crews were able to extinguish the flames quickly and maintained a protection line for the building.”

It took crews about an hour to control the fire.

No injuries were reported.

Manawa Fire was assisted on the scene by Marion, Iola and Scandinavia Fire Departments, Manawa EMS and First Responders, Alliant Energy, Faulks Brothers Construction, Manawa Police Department, Waupaca County Sheriff’s Department and Manawa Public Works.

The cause of the fire is under investigation at this time.
