Foundations For Living’s director retires

Bob Adams replacing Wilma Akright

Wilma Akright has announced her retirement as executive director of Foundations For Living, a rural nonprofit crisis ministry based in Waupaca.

Akright, whose retirement takes effect this month, has served in the position since June 2019.

“Wilma has done so much for FFL as executive director in the three years,” FFL Board chairperson Robin Madson said. “She has been instrumental in updating the warming center, building community relationships and re-establishing the foundation that FFL was built on. She will be greatly missed, but we wish her all the best in her retirement.”

“It has been my joy and honor to serve as Foundations For Living’s executive director,” Akright said. “I have enjoyed working with the board and I am excited to see what the future holds.”

The board also announced that Bob Adams, who currently serves as the organization’s program director, is its new executive director.

“I am honored to serve as Foundations For Living’s executive director,” Adams said. “I love the vision and mission that FFL was founded on and I look forward to working with the board and the staff to help fulfill that.”

Adams said he is thankful for everyone in the community who supports FFL. He encouraged people to stop by the office at 1421 Churchill St. Waupaca, or give him a call at 715-942-2725 to schedule a time to get together.
