Summer Nights Concerts open at ICC

Claudettes, Baba Ghanooj to perform June 8

Waupaca Summer Nights Concert Series will kick off with the Claudettes at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 8, at the Indian Crossing Casino.

The Claudettes fuse Chicago piano blues with the energy of rockabilly and punk and the sultriness of ’60s soul.

The band features Johnny Iguana on the piano, singer Berit Ulseth, bassist, guitarist and singer Zach Verdoorn and drummer Michael Caskey.

They have recorded two albums, “Dance Scandal in the Gymnasium” in 2018 and “High Tunes in the Dark” in 2020.

Iguana was nominated for a Blues Music Award for Piano Player of the Year in 2021.

Waupaca’s own Baba Ghanooj will open the concert at 6:30 p.m.

With Marci Beaucoup on keyboards, Uncle Rod Reynolds on bass, Ric Reynolds on electric guitar, Fran Rademacher on acoustic guitar, John Baldus on drums and vocals with Jeff “Romy” Romenesko and Jeff Romenesko, Baba Ghanooj plays Steely Dan, Tom Petty and the Beatles, as well as some of their original songs.

The Waupaca Community Arts Board is the sponsor of the Summer Nights Concerts.

Tickets to the Waupaca Summer Night Concert are $10 and available at the door or at the ICC in advance.

Located at E1171 County Trunk Q, the ICC will open its lakeside bar for the concert. Purple Basil and King Cone will have food trucks.
