Jason Severson is Manawa’s new police chief.

The Manawa City Council hired him July 6.

Severson has been a police officer for 25 years.

“I started out my career in Manawa, right out of college in January of 1997,” he said. “It feels good to see it go full circle.”

Severson is looking forward to becoming engaged with the community.

“I will be working together with other city offices to help make Manawa even better,” he said.

Most recently, Severson served as a lieutenant with the Fox Crossing Police Department.

“Manawa is a great city,” he said. “I am looking forward to the challenge.”

Communication is key, according to Severson.

“I have a broad knowledge base,” he said. “I will just need to have people get me up to speed. I am looking forward to working with others and have a department where everyone knows what is going on.”

Severson and his family live in Kaukauna and he will begin his new job Aug. 1.
